Hey you deejay! Put a record on!

If you had to do a DJ set for twenty minutes what records would you play?
Okay, perhaps a little unfair without any context. So let me give you a scenario:
- it's a set that will run from 1am to 1:20am
- you are a DJ at a bar in a city
- the clientèle have been in the bar since 8pm
- ages range from 20 to 55
- they have been dancing/socialising for the last couple of hours

Hit me with a song or two of your choice and say why you think it's appropriate.

I have never DJ'd and am not really known for my cutting edge taste in music. I would think, though, that a gathering like that wouldn't be the place to play esoteric beauties that no one has ever heard of. I'd pull out crowd pleasers. Things that make people of all ages smile. Some examples would be -
Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison (Good to sing along to)
Ice, Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice (People love this song for some reason! It is campy and fun and you can dance)
Somewhere Over the Rainbow / Wonderful World by Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole (Sweet and beautiful, for a quieter moment)
So, there you go, for what it's worth :)

Maybe some Black Eyed Peas (both "Hey Mama" and "I've Gotta Feeling" usually get me moving and in a good mood.

L.B.: I see where you are headed and I think you're right, your choices would go down well.

Tara: Very good choices, they would keep the place buzzing.
