Dexter

Through my Love Film subscription, I've been watching some good shows. My wife and I watched the first episode of a series called Dexter this week. I'd seen the DVD box set for sale and I've heard friends say they liked the show but I didn't really know what it was about. In my mind, it was about a guy with paranormal powers who helps the police investigate unsolved murders BUT now I've seen it, it isn't that at all. Dexter is a forensic scientist, a blood splatter specialist who works for the police. He is also a vigilante and quite unlike any normal person.
I was entertained by Dexter but what a twisted mind to come up with a show about a person who normal people should really be appalled by. It is a strange world in which we live and where shows get more and more extreme to fight against each other for supremacy of the ratings war. I shall probably watch more episodes of Dexter and I might find my reaction changing the more I watch.

The tv series is based on a a series of Dexter novels by Jeff Lindsay. After the first season/first novel they go way off, as usual. In this case, not necessarily a bad thing.
I've been watching since the beginning...the eighth and final season is about to begin here. It has definitely had some great highs and puzzling lows.
I'll look forward to hearing what you think...the first season is probably my favorite :)

When I told a friend of mine that I didn't watch "Dexter", she sent me the first season. After that, I was hooked, but I didn't have Showtime, I just watched them through Netflix. I've lost track of it, though, and haven't watched the past two seasons.

The first season, though, is my favorite, and I have the theme song on my iTunes playlist.

LB: It's a very strange premise for a TV show. I didn't know that it was based on novels, I'm now intrigued.

Tara: I can see why the first season was liked so much. It's very very different to other shows on TV.
