Commonwealth Games 2006

I just watched the opening ceremony of these games in Melbourne. It strikes me that opening ceremonies are a visual feast and must take a massive amount of organisation and coordination. They are a national triumph when they work well. However, the fireworks ceremony at the end has become a bit of a cliche and although they are spectacular, I think that they are overdone now. I look forward to watching some great physical performances and wish Australia well in all events but particularly swimming, in which I think they truly excel. Posted by Picasa
