Happy Birthday Miranda

Miranda Richardson's birthday today. She is a great actress. I thought she was so funny as Queenie (Queen Elizabeth 1st) in Blackadder. But her portrayal of Ruth Ellis in Dance with a Stranger is gripping, she plays a woman who develops an obsessional love for a man who seems to toy with her. It is painful to watch because another man does truly love her and her child but she is blind to it. It is ultimately a sad story but the performances of the three central characters are so incredibly strong it is compelling viewing.
